How Sharelyft works

Sharelyft is a noticeboard, not a taxi company. We connect drivers who already have empty seats with passengers going the same way, and we charge one flat KES 50 to make the connection. The fare stays between you and the driver.

For passengers

Step 1

Search your route

Pick your county of origin, your destination and the day you want to travel.

Step 2

Request a seat

Send the driver a short note with how many seats you need. Requests are free.

Step 3

Pay KES 50

Once the driver accepts, you pay the flat connection fee through Paystack (M-Pesa or card).

Step 4

Chat and agree the fare

Contact details unlock and you arrange pickup and the fare directly with the driver.

For drivers

Step 1

Post your ride

Add your route, departure time, seats available and the fare you have in mind.

Step 2

Review requests

You choose who rides with you. Accept or decline each request.

Step 3

Pay KES 50

The same flat fee applies to you for the connection — never a cut of the fare.

Step 4

Get verified

Upload your licence, insurance, logbook and photo to earn the verified driver badge.

What the KES 50 covers

The connection fee keeps the platform running and keeps requests serious. It is charged once per connection to each side — the driver and the passenger — and it unlocks direct contact and in-app chat for that ride. We take nothing from the fare you agree between yourselves, and Sharelyft never handles the fare.
